"Barcelona" in the World Cup 2010

As a finalist of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, Spain recorded a successful outcome of the entire stage. Never lost during the preliminary stages and defeated  by Switzerland only in the group stage, Vicente Del Bosque team reached the finals to face the Netherlands.

As one of the seeded teams, Spain was not as impressive as the other leading teams such as Brazil and Germany, which is several times to win by more than one goal difference. Spain lost 0-1 against Switzerland, 1-0 win against Portugal, winning 1-0 against Paraguay, 1-0 win against Germany. Ordinary result, but consistent.

Spain appearance during the World Cup 2010 will reminds us on how the Catalan team, Barcelona does. Not just how to play, but most of the players are Barcelona's. In the semifinal against Germany, 7 of 11 starting line-up players (64%) was the Bercelona player (Gerard Pique, Carlos Puyol, Sergio Busquets, Andres Iniesta, Xavi Hernandez, Pedro, and David Villa), the remaining three players from Real Madrid (Iker Casillas, Sergio Ramos and Xabi Alonso) and one player from the club Villareal (Joan Capdevila). Still another Barcelona player, sitting on the bench, Victor Valdes.

On the final day, we may still see "Barcelona" against Holland, not Spanish team against Holland, with a game that is also typical of Barcelona; mastery of the ball, beautiful ball dribbling and one-two short pass.
