Goa Gong

I wrote my travelling experience at Kawah Putih, Bandung previously where you can find very exotic volcanic crater. Now I am writing my experience in Goa Gong, the exotic cave in Pacitan, East Java. All photographs in Kawah Putih post are pictures I took myself during my visit there a few months ago, but in this post pictures taken from several online sources, though I also had the previous visit these caves.
What a wonderful scene in Indonesia. Have you ever imagined wall of heaven to be seen? If no, you can see and feel the charm whenever you want now. In Pacitan, East Java.

Goa Gong (gong: one of musical instrument type in the gamelan) located in sub district of Punung, Pacitan regency of East Java, the land where the current President of Indonesia Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) was born.Pacitan city located 600 kilometers east of Jakarta,250 km southwest ofSurabaya and can be reached in 3-4 hours by car from Solo.Pacitan town itself is about 35 km towards the east of the carve.
According to the history, Goa Gong discovered by accident in the Dutch period (periode along which Indonesia was in Ducth aggression). But it was still unexplored as now. In 1995 the search and exploration were resumed. Regarding its location among the limestone mountains of Mount Manyar,Mount Gede, Mount Karang Pulut, Mount Grugah make Goa Gong quite hidden.

According to the local community, as found, this cave was only a hole not much in diameter. Having traced more it so extraordinary. There are several large and small rooms which were located in either horizontally or vertically downwards. There are also several sources of water (bahasa: sumber) within the cave. Water source that is the beginning of the discovery ofGoa Gong. In ancient, local community faced the lack of clean water. After searching around finally they found it; which is one of water source in the cave now. Each of those water source is being given its own name now, the spell Sendang Rogo, Sendang Panguripan, Sendang Relung Jiwo, Sendang Kamulyan, and Sendang Ralung Nisto.

Although in most caves in the limestone mountain area the stalagtite and stalagmit was very ordinary, but what there is in Goa Gong classified as very special. Various ornaments resembling a curtain, the human form, the shape of the brain, and the walls of limestone rock carvings look so beautiful.

Ordinary, because of its depth, 256 m from the surface and least biased of sunlight coming into the cave make the room was very dark. But not anymore now, because in the cave have been installed a few of colorful spot light, make it look so beautiful. The nature of the living rock by water seepage in most of stalagtite and cave walls make it glistening by light effect. To browse the aisles that are still somewhat dark, widely lamp rental is available, head lamp or flashlight with very cheap.

Currently, where local authorities have started to organize and make it as a leading tourist attraction in the area Pacitan and East Java, access to this place is very easy. With tickets still very cheap, IDR 2000 and also the presence of several other tourist attractions such as BanyuAnget Tirto Husodo(naturally volcano warm water),Goa Tabuhan (carve with wall instrumentally sound when being hit), Goa Putri, Goa Kalak, and Goa Jaran Luweng, also beachesKlayar, Teleng Ria beach, and Watu Karang beach that all relatively close together.
