200.000 SMS Sent Every Second [Report]

The more advanced and less costly means of communication, especially mobile phones has encouraged the increased use of SMS (Short Message Service).

International Telecommunications Union (ITU), the United Nations telecommunications agency estimates, the total will be around 6.1 trillion SMS messages sent in cellular networks around the world, until the end of this year. That is, all people around the world are now sending approximately 200 thousand SMS per second.

It is also mentioned, at the end of this year's mobile phone users has reached 5.5 billion people, including nearly 1 billion as 3G users.

The growth of the largest mobile phone users actually occur in developing countries (up to 73% in 2010). In developed countries it is only 1.6 percent.

Regarding the development of internet users, the ITU reported till the end of this year predicted Internet users has reached 2 billion people around the world. The biggest users are in China as many as 420 million people using the internet. Increased by about 300 million users (17.65%) compared to the year 2009. Of that amount 1.6 billion to access the internet from home.
